From Challenges to Triumph: Winning at SXSW and What’s Next for Launch Ahead

Building something from the ground up isn’t easy—especially when you’re creating something that’s never been done before. The journey with Launch Ahead has been full of highs and lows, navigating funding hurdles, tech development, and the weight of making sure that youth in foster care have access to the resources they need. There were moments when I questioned if we’d make it. But then, we got the news: Launch Ahead was selected as a finalist for SXSW Pitch 2025.

That moment was a reminder to keep going—that what we’re building is needed, that people see the vision, and that we’re on the right track. It reignited something in me.

At SXSW, I stood on that stage and shared the vision for Launch Ahead. Not only did we pitch, but we won the Special Award for Most DEI-Inclusive Company! We walked away with $1,000, two tickets to SXSW 2026, and a beautiful award trophy—but more than that, we walked away with validation, renewed energy, and connections that could change the game for us.

Why SXSW? Why Now?

This pitch wasn’t just about funding or exposure. It was about giving voice to youth in foster care who have been overlooked for far too long. It was about showing the world that technology isn’t just for entertainment or business—it can create access, break down barriers, and truly change lives.

Winning this award wasn’t just a win for Launch Ahead. It was a win for every young person aging out of care who deserves a chance at success.

More Than an Award: The Real Wins

SXSW gave us so much more than a trophy—it gave us momentum.

  • A Renewed Sense of Purpose – This experience reminded me why I started Launch Ahead in the first place. It gave me the push to keep moving forward, no matter what obstacles come our way.
  • Game-Changing Relationships – I left SXSW with meaningful connections, including a potential VC who believes in our mission and organizations ready to support our next steps.
  • A Bigger Platform for Impact – Winning the DEI award was proof that our work is being seen and valued. This is about more than just tech—it’s about creating real change.

So What’s Next?

This moment was just the beginning. Right now, we’re focused on:

  • Securing funding to complete our MVP development so we can start testing Launch Ahead with youth and organizations.
  • Partnering with organizations that want to help us bring this platform to the young people who need it most.
  • Expanding our reach to ensure every young person aging out of foster care has a clear path forward.

We’re not just building a company—we’re building a movement. And SXSW was proof that we’re on the right path. Now, we keep going.

If you want to be part of this journey—whether through funding, partnerships, or collaboration—let’s connect.

Sincerely,
